Moreton Bay Pridefest is the region’s ultimate celebration! Bursting with unity and acceptance, Pridefest brings together the local LGBTQIA+ community for a riot of colours, glitter and all things fabulous.
With a vision to make Moreton Bay a happier, more inclusive, and more culturally rich and diverse place for the LGBTIQAP+ community. By creating an inaugural Pride Celebration in the area, the event aimed to empower the current and future generations to be their authentic selves and feel accepted and proud of who they are, regardless of their gender identity or sexuality.
Matchsticks Agency was engaged for full-managed marketing, branding, sponsorship, PR & media, and ticketing. This included a mix of strategies – like traditional advertising, digital advertising, organic social media, influencer marketing, website management, and email marketing.
To ensure the event’s successful promotion, we focused on two main aspects: first, creating a strong brand and effective messaging; second, ensuring strategic placement and budget allocations on all marketing activities to achieve maximum reach on all mediums.
After an internal brand workshop, we knew the brand had to be electric, bright, fun and a bit cheeky. The modern designs were adapted through a multi-media strategy. Pushing our branding across signs, banners, posters, email signatures, digital ads, social media posts and even a branded mini car. We reached out to local organisations, businesses, and media platforms, inviting them to sponsor, collaborate or promote Pridefest. Being an inaugural event, we lacked a social media following, database, and historical digital data to kickstart our efforts. As a result, we had to get creative with our approach and use a mix of traditional and digital strategies, such as running competitions to grow our database and utilising media networks, influencer marketing and paid advertising to get the word out.
With a staggering 200% return on social media ad spend, our tailored approach not only optimised the advertising budget but also generated substantial returns. Through strategic content creation and engagement tactics, we successfully reached over 110,000 individuals via organic social media channels, fostering meaningful connections and brand awareness. The growth in social media followers exceeded expectations, with an impressive increase of 1,900+, highlighting the success of our engagement strategies. Additionally, our efforts drove substantial traffic to PrideFest’s website, welcoming over 30,000 new visitors who explored the event offerings and contributed to the overall online presence.
In the spirit of reconciliation, Matchsticks Marketing Agency acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today
